Congratulations on your SignCraft write-up. I wish they had put all 30 layouts in the article. After admiring your work this winter at your gathering, the minute I turned the page I recognized your style. I dug right into the article, after studying the layouts and striping of course. Enjoy your travels this spring. Looks like you are planning a fun schedule of meets.

I'm with you on this one Dave. Great stuff! I've been throught the mag about 10 times, like a hobo on a hotdog...and keep ending up back at the A&R page.
His project reminds me of what we do here at corporate...using univers only, for three years...It's a scary thought at first but has really helped the design skills. It really forces you to think and build a design. Back to the basics. Negative space, scale, repetition, thick vs. thin...
Thanks Bill and sons!

I really enjoyed that article too. Bill is a talented guy. And his wife is awesome! Congrats on a nifty piece in SignCraft! I always wish there would be a swap or something were we would all have to do a design for the same "company" just to see what all the different ideas turned out like. Love...JILL

Thanks everyone! I really like that idea about the same copy for a panel swap. Alot of time you see that same idea at meets when people interpret the meet theme on the panels we bring. We had some GREAT panels for the first Letter-Rip in 1991!! One of my favorite projects when I taught school was to do a day where we studied Leonardo. The day before I gave the kids a color book page with the outline of Mona Lisa and tell them to color it but DON'T look at the actual painting before hand. This totally confused them because I NEVER used stuff like color book pages. The next day we would display them all, discuss him, his work, why the painting looked liked it looked, why he used those colors and why they used THEIR colors. At the end, I would tell them to take their drawing back and before next class, do a drawing of what Mona Lisa would look like TODAY! They could trace the face if the HAD to but "try it on your own". We had more FUN! We had Mona the Cubs fan, Punk Mona, Cheerleader Mona, Nascar Mona, Barbie Mona, Valley girl Mona and on and on. Kids are soo cool!! There are endless possibilities and it is fun to stretch yourself and think of new possibilites !
