I knew this once, but can't find my reference, now that I need it [Roll Eyes] :

How do I get the french accents above the e?
All I remember is, that I had to press a sequence of three numbers.

é should be alt + 0233

ô alt + 0244

ê alt + 0234

ç alt + 0231

to find any others, go to CHARACTER MAP which is found under START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS and then CHARACTER MAP. Simply click on any of them and look in the bottom right-hand corner and you will see the keystroke instructions.

The other one I use all the time is 212º...the degree sign is alt + 186.

I just press the right key.

The keys marqued with é or è or à! Or for less used letters the key with ^ followed by the right letter.

Actually I use a Swiss french Mac keybord!
but if you want i send you all the right accented letter and you just copy/paste them!

Lol, Doug, I've had only good eperiences with "French Characters"!

Desire, I wish it was that easy, there's no such letters on our keyboards. I should go to the computer shop and see it they got one or could order it for me.I would also need the german variations of o, u and a.

Elaine, for some reason that link does not work properly.
I've found most codes, exept for accent grave for the upper case E.

Just learned something new, My 2¢ worth...

To see all those funky characters:

go to Start > Settings > Control panel> add/remove programs > Windows setup >system tools check off "character map"
reboot
Now you can see the map for any font by going to
Start > Programs > Accessories > Systems Tools > Character map. It tells you those magic "Alt" sequences at the bottom.
