I recently purchased a set of toilet lid and toilet seat plastic molds at an auction. They came with a seat that was made using the mold. It was clear with small fishing lures embedded in it. (Really Cool) I would really like to make some seats as gag gifts for Christmas. Does anyone know what type of material I could use in these molds? It needs to be clear and somewhat thick prior to hardening. I also need to make sure it doesn't bond to the plastic mold. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really need something to "GO ON!" Also, give me some ideas on what you might try to put in the mold. (barbed wire, razor blades, thumb tacks........)

Hi Matt... No suggestions for what to pour in yer molds...not my bag man. But your post reminded me of a toilet seat my sis brought back from Vegas in the mid-1970s. That sucker was FULL of pennies. I thought it was so cool, seeing all those shiny copper Lincolns embedded in Lucite. I think she paid $50 for it...quite a pretty penny back in the day. Since it seems that we don't seem to have much of a use for them, I suggest pennies. Or poker chips. Dice. Safety pins. Antique marbles. Sea shells. Those little plastic sandwich picks that look like swords. Fake fingernails (for the ladies' room) Billy Bob Teeth! Taxidermy eyeballs...nobody would want to sit on those! You may need some acrylic resin for casting. Many hobby type places have it google it..

If you want to have fun, put roaches, lizards, spiders, and other critters that folks are afraid of. Talk about fun, (unless you have someone with a real fear) a realistic looking plastic snake coiled around the seat.
No one wants to sit on thumb tacks, so do one with lots of colored ones embedded. just go to the dollar store and a few toy stores and you will fing some interesting alternatives.
Go to the craft store and ask if they have a mediun suitable for pouring. I am thinking resin.

I'll make some enquiries as to what to use for the mold release but in the meantime here are some ideas for content... How about diced carrots set in a sea of bile yellow acrylic. Corn kernels with a tinge of carmine swirled in the epoxy. A sports steering wheel set in the topmost lid (for driving the big white porcelaine bus) A large crucifix for telling God you won't repeat your current offence. Seashells, because its kitch and people will buy it. Just tossing some ideas into the mix David
