Hey Heads

Looking for a rough price chart. Does anybody have in writing anything like per foot for Edge, standard vinyl, design fees, installation, etc? Please do not respond if you feel my shop is too close to yours geographically. I constantly get the feeling I am on the low side. [Dunno] A price chart for ballparking would be a big help.

If you have a word document that I can modify, that would be great [Thanks]

I'm with you also Rick I would like to see what others charge. I figured I get about 80% of all bids I put out.. I know this sounds weird but I think thats too high. So I really wonder how much I'm leaving on the table.. I really want to work smarter in the new shop not Harder.

I've been using the North American Sign Blue Book by Brian Hinkle. I really like the detail it goes into and the wide variety of options available for the various types of signs we do. I like it a lot better than the Signwriters Pricing Guide. I'm always checking it against our actual price and for the most part it checks out well. You can call them at 480-325-6872.

If no one whines and cries at your pricing, it's too low. [Smile]

If you're doing all kinds of work but not making any money, your pricing is too low.

If purchasing supplies/inventory puts the hurt on your immediate cashflow, your pricing is too low.

If you want a simple formula as a starting point:

(Materials + Labor)x1.5 = Deposit Amount (Yep, the entire job cost is covered with the deposit, plus a little extra to cover time for phone calls or trips to the supplier)

Deposit x 2 = Final Price (Nope, that's not 100% profit margin cause you probably underestimated the actual labor, so this is buffered for that.)

Rick,
We use a software estimating program. [Big Grin]

Rick, we retail Edge output on HP vinyl by the linear inch. Multiply by 12 for per foot.

1 color = 1.00 per inch
extra colors = 30¢ per inch
metallics count as 1.5 colors
medals count as 2 colors

IP vinyl subtract 7¢ per inch

Setups beyond 15 minutes = computer shop rate
Hard to weed or other abnormal labor is also added on at shop rate.
