We did some signs for our town , 5 years ago, using Burgundy Deka paint. The south sides of them faded and turned purplish within 3 years. The paint is in fine shape. What can I use to repaint them without having to strip them?

Dianne This ought to be interesting to see what you get for answers, I never got any luck out of Deka paints. Any burgundy will fade prematuraly I am in the process of doing my second one with dark ruby smalts. Glass doesnt fade. it may rub off over time but I figure its a better way to go.
Good luck

I had a similar situation with Deka. The dark green turned blue in 2 years, and these were on golf course signs, ouside only 6 months of the year!
This is what I did and it worked. So far no problems. I sanded them lightly, put on a coat of universal latex primer, then double coated with One Shot. The paint had good adhesion, it just faded so badly.

Diane... I had to use Deka when I was pregnant with Justis. It sux! Fades faster than pink hair dye! I agree with Dave about the 1-Shot. Good luck! Love- JILL
