I just can't hide it any more. I LOVE MY SQUEEGE!
I keep loosing it & have finally come up with a way to keep it with me at all times. (Even while shopping-if I forget it is hanging around)
Here is what I did. Take your favorite squeege and drill a hole in one of the ends in the center. Then attach one of those key rings that has the strechy coil. You can wear it on your wrist all day if needed, & it will always be handy! I've also bought the key ring that has the coil with the end you can clip to your belt loop, but that one has already broke from stretching it too far. This little change has saved me hours and miles on the shoes from walking back & forth so much.

I found it hard to believe, but I once read a study that said 25% of an average worker's time was spent looking for stuff.
I can only wonder WHERE do they do their research for these statistics?

Laurie..About 4 years ago someone suggested that to me..and Lo and Behold...a buddy provided me with a cute pink "springy" thing for my squeegie..it sounded like a great idea at the time but I got teased so much about the pink "thingie" that I quickly abandoned it!!!

Also, I found that just shoving the squeegie into the tool belt was a lot easier!!! [Smile]

Ever read the book "Cheaper by the Dozen"? It talks of a time & motion study expert and his family- very funny & educational book. He identified a lot of time is spent (and wasted) in the 'search' mode of an operation.
So it's cheaper to have a dozen pencil sharpeners (or squeegees) etc around the shop so you can lay your hands on one straight away, than lose time searching for 'the only one, now where did I put it...?'
Or keep an apron on with pockets like a carpenter's belt bag...
Or add it to a keyring...
There are lots of things to make work more efficient if you can only remember to put them into practise!
Best wishes. Good post.

Check every backpocket of any of my jeans for the wear and inprint of my 3-m G Squeegee.

I like going somewhere and asking if they except Gold Cards!
I haven't had any Lucky with it going through.

Watch pocket on every pair of jeans I own all the way from 501's to wranglers...it's as tho they knew someday there would be a use for that little pocket...the part I like the best is it only goes in 3/4 of the way and is always handy to whip out and use.

Man I hope you're talkin about a squeegee.... [Smile]

I like wearing board shorts so when I do have an application to do or I'm putting transfer tape on a job, I keep my tools in the huge pockets in the board shorts!

tape measures....finally got tired of hunting them and bought a half dozen more to go with the half dozen I already had. [Roll Eyes] I haven't hunted a tape measure in over two weeks now. [Smile]

BTW, I only have two gold squeegees but recently learned a "new" trick for sharpening them. Instead of rubbing two squeegees together, I keep a folded piece of 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper on the workbench. Just a lick or two on that once in a while and it takes them scratches off and makes it better than new.

binding the fingers of one hand with a little root-tone has formed a squeegee-like apendage where the fingernails have all fused into one sharp edged application tool beyond compare [Smile]

seriously now, I too have discovered the benefits of 4 pair of scissors, 8 rulers & 12 xacto's in the 100 sq. ft. area between my plotter & weeding table. I actually get by with 2 squeegees, but have 2 more in a drawer for back-up.

You Know after reading this I think on Monday I'm going to line up all my employees and staple a sqeege to there foreheads. This has always been one of my tick off points in our office our artroom is 35 ft X 24 ft and you can't find a exacto in the whole room. Go out to the 5000 sq ft warehouse were the woodworking is done and there everywhere. I'm putting 2 new tables in the art room and I'm going to put a drawer at each corner of the 2 tables and see what happens.

Here's my typical attire on the average workday...Squeege in left rear pocket with wallet to keep it from bending, a retractable, refillable knife in right rear pocket (retracted!), tape measure clipped to right front pocket, china marker on top of right ear, lighters and keys in left front pocket. In my tool box I keep another set of the above just in case.

In the last two years I have not lost one of these items. Over the first 5 years in business, I probably lost over 50 xacto knives.

LOL....just gotta mental picture of a gung-ho letterhead covered in the tools of his trade like an avid fly fisherman! Reminds me of somethin' in a "just for laffs" thing I wrote: ..."....when I find all the tape measures I've lost I'm gonna open a new business..."Tape-Measures-R-US". [Big Grin] Hav'a great day peoples!

I wear a 5 pocket tool apron most of the time when working. Holds squeegees, stabilos, tweezers, break off knife, extra blades, tape measure, lil' chizler and any other little stuff that I usually need. Easy to take the whole thing off and have everything right there when I need it. It's also handy to wipe a painty finger on... better than my pants.

Thanks for all of the great visuals. I think I might go and pick up one of those tool belts to hide all of my stuff in. (I probably should just pick up a dozen right away) I should be able to fill them all. This is what I usually look like for a day of vinyl work. Two spray bottles. One hanging from each pocket. 1 for cleaner and 1 for application fluid) Then of course my trusted squeegie on my wrist, the paper towel in my pocket, exacto/poker usually laying on the ladder, sometimes stupidly hanging from my mouth. (good thing I don't smoke!) I would hate to stick that thing in my mouth back words and try to take a big puff! Yeowee! Thanks again guys. This is so much fun! I told Andy I was not even going to check e-mail today, but then one thing lead to another and here I am!!
