Okay guys, its been over two months since the deadline, and still all panels aint in? What's up?
Who all is still waiting on their panel?
Six months and counting is a little long to get one panel done dontcha think? Lets have a roll call of those that havent received theirs yet.
Starting with ol me.

Posted by Jackson Smart (Member # 187) on :

OK...I will be #2. But I told CJ that I have plenty of patience. [Wink]

I am still panelless, nor do I know who's not doing it.

Posted by cheryl nordby (Member # 1100) on :

I haven't gotten mine either. [Razz] And I am incredibly impatient. I realize schit happens and you have to do the paying jobs first...but come on. If you were too busy ....you shouldn't have signed up. How do you run your business? Hopefully not like you do your panel. [Roll Eyes]

Panels? What panels? [Razz]

Still waiting here.

Any takers for organizing the next one?

Terry, Ya gotta be kidding !!!!!!he he he
I know who has mine......I told him to take his time........he he he....

Im so sorry you guys havent gotten yours. If I had more time I would do you all one just so I would have an excuse to get to know you better.

Haven't got mine either.....
Don't even care anymore....??

Posted by Mark Yearwood (Member # 2723) on :

Don't have mine yet...maybe it will be worth the wait. [Wink]

Posted by Mark Matyjakowski (Member # 294) on :

Still waiting ... but know where it's eventually coming from.

Maybe next one (if there is one) it should be all panels DONE and submitted by a certain date ... then get swapped.

Posted by Steve Barba (Member # 431) on :

This is so simple-

I knew the panel that I did would sit around my shop and not get done, so I told myself this:

THIS IS A CUSTOMERS PROJECT. Guess what- done in a couple of days.

I hope you guys don't procrastinate this bad with paying customers.

Posted by Jeff Ogden (Member # 3184) on :

No panel, no contact, no idea when it may come.

Posted by Robert Larkham (Member # 2913) on :

Put me on that list. No panel here. I say a public posting of the culprits who are lagging behind. Better yet give me the name of the person who has me and I'll make them a panel. At this point I'm almost not expecting a panel. This sucks though because it will keep me from participating in another swap.

Posted by Jim & Chris hetzler (Member # 1709) on :

Hey, no panel in my direction either. Hope they didn't forget about us......

Jim

I know who's supposed to be doing my panel. I'm trying not to rush him, but this really is ridiculous. I was so geeked for so long waiting for it...now, like CJ, the interest factor is waning.

This was a great idea, Terry. There was a ton of interest and good feelings, new friends made, new techniques learned, shop walls adorned, etc. Its too bad a few bad apples have ruined the mojo.

I have no idea how to make this work to keep the bad apples out next time, but it sure would be a shame that a great concept like this has to die.

You done good, Terry. Thanks for your efforts.

Posted by Robert Larkham (Member # 2913) on :

Terry needs to be given a thousand attaboys for taking on this project. The fact that some people can't get off their dead asses should in no way reflect poorly on Terry. It's just to bad this is happening. I still think a public posting of the deadbeats [Wink] [Wink] is in order. It was public when you got in, let's see it now.

Nope! has'nt shown up yet. But I can wait, spring is here, and there's more to be concerned about than this panel swap, but I do hope to see it real soon, I was told a few weeks ago that I would have it by months end.....

hmmm.....I guess I've been a baaaaad boy [Roll Eyes] Sorry about that and I'm gonna give myself a real stern talkin-to!! [Wink]

Cheryl Nordby, like I told you in the phone message you got & in the e-mail that I sent you, if you have any questions just let me know. I've updated my sig line to include some additional phone numbers since cell phone service in this area has become less than satisfactory. Like I mentioned before, feel free to call collect if that's a problem. Meanwhile, I'm finishing assembly of your panel today & it should go out on FedEx tomorrow. If that schedule doesn't work out, I'll give you a call but in the meantime, like I said earlier, feel free to give me a call. I always answer my cell phone when & if it rings, I answer at the shop 24/7 when I'm there or just call my office numbers which are answered with a live person 24/7 and if I'm not in (which is most of the time) they'll be glad to take a message and/or get in touch with me.

Now, to answere your other questions,

I wouldn't have signed up if I had known how hectic my life was going to be but like you said, schit happens and I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I don't run my business like I do my panel! [Razz] [Big Grin]

Guess I need a stern talkin' too as well. My vic has agreed to wait with patience, but being a "culprit", "bad apple" & "deadbeat" as judged by public opinion, I guess, victims patience aside, I already got my stern talkin' too.

Posted by cheryl nordby (Member # 1100) on :

Hiya Chris....thanks for the update. When you called over a month ago...I guess I just thought my panel would be a~comin' soon. As far as calling....I don't like bugging people to get things done. That is entirely up to you.

I am anxious to see it! So I hope your stern talkin' you gave to yourself worked!! [Wink]

Hey Chris I think that all any one is asking for is a little idea of what happened to there panel. Im sorry about your personal troubles and I hope every thing is OK. Thank you for coming forward and letting us know what is going on. I am only conserned about those who are not going to do a panel at all. I can only imagine the dissapointment of doing a panel and not geting one in return. At least come forward and let someone know they dont have one coming. Maby the next one we can make a theam, do it by a date, send in the picks, and then swap the names of who have done the panels. Im so sorry that this didnt work out for some becouse it was the most fun I have had at letterville!

Some of you people really crack me up.......heheheh

I gotta laugh at the things I see here......!!

YUP.....I'm one of those "low-life, deadbeat, worthless sub-human, evil-doers that don't have his panel sent off.......hahahahaha!!

Yeah, I definatly think we should drag these deadbeats out in the street and publicly castrate them, and post their names all over the internet for all to see, just like some trick that got busted with one of the local hookers down on the corner........

Yup....Makes sense ta me.....hahhaahahah

"GET a Grip............. [Smile]

This is supposed to be a fun thing to do and be involved in........NOT a "I want "MY" panel or I'm gonna go in the corner and pout, or better yet call everyone names........

Cracks me up....!! [Smile]

As for myself.........
I'm having a great time doing this thing for Jackson Smart !!
When I first drew his name I was somewhat intimidated, cause he does some killer work.....and what the hell was I gonna do to put a smile on his face......??

So I got ahold of him....we talked for quite a while and I got a better handle on him, and what I could put together for him.
No, I don't have time to bust my ass everyday to meet any schedule put up by some of the people on this board..........But I am feeling damn good about what I am doing, and I know that when he gets it, he will appreciate the TIME, Effort, and consentration, I've put into an object made "JUST FOR HIM...!!" Not something rushed out to meet some deadline............

I'm not making it for any magazine, publicity, or public attention.......
I'm making it because "I WANT TO.....for someone I want to make it for...!!"

Pat Neve is making a panel for me........He got ahold of me and said it might take a while.........and THAT'S KOOL.....!!
He's making me a gift....a present.....something with his own hands, coming from his wanting to give something of himself to another person on this board........
Take all the time ya need Pat.....cause I'll like the hell out of it, "Whenever" it gets here....and I "WILL APPRECIATE IT !!" [Smile]

Yup............Really Cracks me up.......!!

Sure does tell ya some of the things ya need to know about folks........

Well...thas enough laughin fer now.....gotta get back to havin some fun......making things, and doing things........and not whining and crying about stuff that I can't control any damn wayzzz......hahahahahah

Now Fire away.........!!
......and be sure to put my name at the TOP of the List.... [Smile]

Hi Cheryl, you're right, it has been a month since I called and I do apologize for the delay. Especially since I hate to wait on stuff myself (next-day delivery even tries my patience)!! [Smile]

Hi Ryan, it never occured to me that some of the folks might not do a panel at all. That's a good point & that would be a bad deal for everyone involved. Surely they'll go ahead & get theirs done too. [Smile]

edited to include;
Hey CJ!! While I agree with most of what you managed to type up while I was gettin' my reply typed, I think you went a little overboard with that castration suggestion (makes me kinda nevous since Lorna Bobbit hit the news) so could we just substitute a sharp rap on the knuckles with a ruler instead?? So what re you trying to Say CJ? ..Heh Heh.

Posted by Doug Allan (Member # 2247) on :

CJ Allan is being my big brother on this one saying what I was tryin' ta say. Guess I'm tryin' to wear the white hat around here for awhile due to a few previous confrontations.

Since the deadline, er, um castrationline, (or was it guideline) is not bothering the vast majority, I guess if some of the impatient ones are culling themselves out of the next swap, then we need not worry that it's "ruined the mojo"

This great concept will not die.

Posted by Ryan E Young (Member # 2325) on :

CJ I cant seem to get this across. I am not refering to those who have contacted there recipiants. If you have talked to the person and you both are on the same page then Fu*&^% the deadline. but I will bet there are a few that have not contacted ther recipiant and are not going to do one at all. This was a great idea and I dont want to see any one get screwed. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT BEING LATE. I hope I didnt come off as a puss whining about the panel swap. I just had fun and hope to do it again so I can exchange with some one new. This swap was very exciting to me. I was very intimidated being fairly green at this kind of thing but that pushed me to do something I was very proud of and didnt want to give away. I got my panel on time and got mine out on time but that doesnt mean that if someone was late I would be ****ed. As long as I knew it was coming then that would be cool. So dont get in a tizzy becouse I am tring to get the peaple that are going to drop this project motivated.I also did not do this for any other reason than to swap a panel with peaple that I respect and look up to.

point taken Mark!
I know I wouldn't have the balls to shirk a deadline twice with consequences like that. [Smile]

Ryan & Rob I see your points, the folks who have not made contact represent a level of disrespect that I was overlooking. I would hope no one really flakes entirely but that would seriously put a black eye on such a great event.

another vote for "outing" the ____slackers (myself included, choose your own adjective) & those that do not come forth with a status report may need to be replaced. (don't ask me the equitable solution for that one, I still hope no one flakes, but others have offered to make a second & I would as well before seeing anyone left out)

Terry, as for volenteering for the next one, I am not ready to step that far forward, but if there are logictical chores in resolving the tracking, posting, contacting, &/or replacing the late folks, I would offer to help there. I also would suggest a committee to handle the next one. delegate collecting names, allocating names, posting pics etc. It seems that the various tasks don't overlap so much as to make sharing the responsibility impossible.

I didnt mean for this to get into a name calling post. Twerent my intentions. Hopefully if you have another panel swap, itll go smoother and quicker than this one did. Good ol Terry had the right intentions and I think everyone had their heart in the right place. Seems when we aint gettin' paid, we slow down some. In this case, maybe a lot. [Roll Eyes]

my enquiring mind had to "google that one Jackson:

ILLEGITIMUS NON CARBORUNDUM

Phrase

"Don't let the bastards grind you down." An appealing sentiment with numerous variants in pseudo-Latin.

Also as: NIL CARBORUNDUM ILLIGITIUM.

Origins: probably military.

hey Doug....that was a favorite saying in the Firehouse. Although we were civilians, we were somewhat "military"...ie: uniforms,rank,etc...it was a finger to those that didn't "get it". [Wink] ...and you would be suprised at the "Senior Fire Officers" that didn't have a full load of hose! Hahaha [Big Grin] (another fire house saying)! [Wink]

Life's been drug backwards through a knot hole and smacked back against the backside of that fence for me lately... My Dad died and I was elected "family hero".

(Why do I have to be so damn organized and level headed? It gets me into more chit than when I was flying off the handle and riding on the seat of my pants while driving fast and staying up all night... SOBER! LOL)

I'm half way done with two panels and two bedroom door signs (they all look similiar and go to my panel dude, my dearest letterhead friends, and my kids) and plan to wrap them all up this next week.

The wrapped in a white jacket side of the Moon

P.S. Terry, I haven't got a hold of my panel dude in Canada yet... I know he's Signs in the Pines or something like that (but not Richard Bustamonte Signs in the Pines) and I have his name and address SOMEWHERE in that aftermath of a cyclone I call an office, but... Oh, I'm GETTING there! LOL I hope he likes it when it gets there, with all the other "sorry I'm a chit" gifts. [Wink]

No! Not you, Steff. You shouldn't feel bad,
I sent my panel off day before yesterday.
"Guess I'm poo too."

Ya know, I spent alot of time thinking of
an unusual name for my sign company, and now
you tell me theres another, Signs in the Pines?
Please tell me it isn't so.

At least I have the domain name.
I wonder if that other Signs in the Pines
would like to buy my domain name? I'll sell
it for $20K US.

Anyway good to hear from you.

A suggestion if we decide to do this again: the first 2 panels to be completed swap with each other, the next 2 with each other, and so on. No deadlines, nobody gets burned. The obvious drawback is that you won't know who you're making one for, but that also opens some possibilities. I f there's an odd number of participants, I'll make an extra.

The first time around I had thought of a direct swap with the person swapping with you, but I had still been thinking this happens from drawing out of a hat & then goes acording to deadline.

Sonny's idea sounds great to me!

My recipient knows whats up & has been patient (I have been on the final drive to completing it for the last 6 hours today) But I have felt extra guilty because Monte had his panel to me right on time.

Motion to approve Sonny's idea, but we need a new project coordinator for the 2003-2004 swap. At least the logictical nightmare should go way down with this idea.

Posted by Terry Whynott (Member # 1622) on :

My feeling is that there HAS to be a deadline set or it will never end. I'm wondering if this one ever will. Today is officially 2 months past the due date.

Someone else had suggested setting a date and have a picture of your panel submitted by that date. The draw is then made from all the finished panels. I like that idea.

I'd also suggest to whoever does the next one to take advantage of the BB poll feature. Any decisions that need to be made can be put up for everyone to vote on. I tried and tried at first to get input on how to run this deal but got very little response. I ended up just making decisions on my own and I didn't like doing that. A committee would be good too, but I'd also like to see everyone be able to give some input.

Plan the next one around a live meet. Organize it here but have everyone bring there panel to the meet and draw names for the swap. Now everyone involved gets a panel and you got some people to show up for a live meet....just an idea.

Posted by Jeff Ogden (Member # 3184) on :

I like the idea of the swap being every year on the same date, say Jan 31, and then everyone who made one by that date gets their name in a hat and then have a drawing to see who gets what. But it does lose a little when you don't know who they're for...

Posted by cheryl nordby (Member # 1100) on :

There would be no way in hell you could not have a deadline with all the procrastinators on this board.

Posted by Sonny Franks (Member # 588) on :

Well, I didn't mean LITERALLY no deadline. In effect, the early birds swap with each other and the procrastinators (or perfectionists) do likewise. There would need to be some point at which the total deadbeats throw in the towel, however. (Terry's probably getting close to that now) If there's agreement on the process, I'll be glad to volunteer for the mailing logistics if someone else will take the picture-posting duties. But let's not get started until this one's over - Terry needs a break.

Anyone out there get Teena Wilson's name?
Still haven't heard from the person who is making her panel.
