Somehow the desktop in my Corel 8 has gotten altered a little. The shape tool has disappeared along with the little printer icon and probably a few other things. How do I go about getting it back to the original look?

George,
The easiest way to set CorelDraw 8 back to it's defaults is to remove the configuration files.

To do this open Windows Explorer and go to the following directory C:\Corel\Graphics8\Workspace\CorelDraw\_default

Delete all of the following files:-

cdrdcks.cfg
cdrbars.cfg
cdrsbar.cfg
cdrmenu.cfg
cdrrols.cfg
prnbars.cfg
prnsbar.cfg

Open CorelDraw 8 and all the defaults will be restored. The reason for this is if CorelDraw can't find the configuration files it simply recreates them as per the factory defaults.

Of course if you have customized Corel it will not remember any changes that you have made.

George,

The default settings can be restored by holding down the F8 key while opening Corel. A box will come up asking if you want to restore defaults, click yes.
