Although I don't do as much gilding as I used to, I had the occasion to redo a famous old racecar that I'd done years ago for an upcomming magazine artical. Being out of 12kt. white gold, I of course called my old friends at Wehrung & Billmeier. They shipped instantly and as always I was extremely impressed with the quality. Besides, being an American, I like knowing that the gold was beaten right there in Chicago. I have heard that there are a lot of new trendy leaf suppliers out there, but when the chips are down this old guy always deals with a proven winner. It's that way with all of my hand lettering supplies. Especially these days, someone is always shouting cheaper, faster, better, but I've never really seen such a thing as 'cheap quality' or 'just as good as'. Invest in quality, it pays.

Thanks Mike, for the post about American gold. I need to order 2 packs of 23K soon, I'll keep them in mind!
