Bill;Just not to have to go thru your original post on this subject. I am wondering what you consider a "wall in such disrepair as can't be lettered on"?? After reading the very last post,with the amount of substrates needed and the price involved. I would think that a coat of plaster or concrete finish should help cut down on expence in order to create a suitable painting surface. What do YOU think?

Thanks for your note. We've tried to come up with solutions to repair the wall that would be relatively inexpensive. However,the contractors we've sought bids from estimate it will cost $12,500 to do the repairs. We investigated multiple sources to do the work, but found none we could afford.
Accordingly, we turned to the solution of painting on panels, which would then be affixed to the wall. That's why, from my perspective, $2,500-$3,000 for substrates presents itself as doable. Do you have a suggestion for an alternative to substrates? If not, that seems a good route to go.

I belive most Sign people would agree that your choice of substrate for out door use would be.... "Dibond" That I belive is made by Alusuisse Composites out of Benton KY. 800-626-3365 Hope this helps

I do like Di-Bond, as far as a cost thing what about econolite, can be edge capped and you'll only see 1 side anyway. Just a thought, I would prefer di-bond of course but just a thought.
