I'm new to Corel, just bought it (Corel 7) and I have a colour photo, head and shoulders of a client who wants his face on an election sign. What I want to do is reduce the image to black and white with enough detail to recognise the face, then vectorise the image and cut in vinyl. But.....I don't know how do do it in Corel Photopaint. Could someone please tell me the steps to take? Wow, corel is a steep learning curve! thanks in advance.

1)Open your image in PhotoPaint.
2)From the pull-down menu select IMAGE and then MODE.
3)From there select your option...Black and White, Grayscale and so on. In this case, try "Black and White".
4)Save image.
5)Open new image in Corel Trace and go from there....
I hope this helps.

Thanks Glenn, it worked fine with a bit of sqeaking of settings. I was tempted to return to the MicroGrafix software to do the job because I'm more familiar with it, but since Corel is a superior product I thought I should try to use it. The last time I used Corel was version 2.5, it's changed a bit! Thanks Mario, I'm OK for now but I'll save that favour for a later date, hope your banner is OK, let me know!
