It's 7:30 here at Duck Soup in McCalla, Alabama. Just a short time ago we all gathered together for a candle light tribute to those who lost their lives on Tuesday. It made very proud to be a part of this meet and those we call Letterheads.

We had HeadTV running this afternoon, but nobody manning the keyboard. Everyone wants to paint instead of typing. We promise to do a better job tomorrow.

Lots of first timers at this meet. I have Chris King here with me. Many of you know her as Kissymatina. I've asked her to tell you a bit about her first day at her first meet.

I'm Chris King from Indiana, Pa. Today was the first day of my first meet. Several of us arrived at the Hindu Hilton last night and went to grab a bite to eat, renew old friendships, and meet the newbees (like me!). I was glad to meet a few people last night rather than being inundated with total strangers this morning.

Arriving at Pat's early this morning, I was suprpised at the amount of people here already. We've had more people arriving throughout the day and evening. It has been wonderful meeting all the people who I've chatted with and some I just see posting all the time on the bb.

Pat, Old Paint and George Perkins have been attempting to teach me how to run a brush today. I wouldn't exactly call what I've been doing lettering, but I've managed to waste a bit of paint and have a lot of fun. George must love me because he's even done 2 alphabets for me, complete with arrows for the brush strokes for me to take home and work with. And, I've gotten several hugs from OP even. Who woulda thunk it? Coplen hasn't even once mentioned Janet Reno.

All morning I spent walking around just meeting people and checking out what they were working on. It was a bit intimidating at first, but once Pat started working with me, then Joe & George got involved, I found it easier to grab a brush and start playing with the paints. Harris and the banner finally arrived today. This afternoon, someone got the brilliant idea to go to Michael's crafts, so Harris and I took a 64 mile round trip field trip to Michael's. He said he knew where it was. That must be why we had to go on 3 different exits before we found it.

It has been an overwhelming day. Meeting all these talented, wonderful people. Seeing so much amazing work going on. I wish some of the people who were suppost to be here could've made it. It's only been 1 day, but I've learned so much, I've seen so much and I've had a lot of fun.

My family was a little leary when I told them I was driving 800 miles to spend 3 days with a bunch of people I met on the internet. After this meet, I can't imagine passing up another one, no matter how far it is.
