I posted this reply on another thread and after looking at it decided it was worth of its own topic to help some of you avoid a possible significant loss. My insurance agent told me that signs in transit to a customers site requires a special rider to be insured. If the sign blows off your truck or worse yet you have an accident, you will eat the entire amount of the repair / replacement. My coverage costs all of $20 a year with a $100 deductable. That's the most peace of mind I've found for $20.

We have a contractors policy and that coverage is included at no extra cost. It also includes things like crane hook damage.

Ever seen what a crane hook can do to a windshield?

Not pretty!
