I don't agree with the author of that article at all. Neon a bad rap? Poorly made neon, tacky neon, and poorly designed neon should get a bad rap just like a poorly designed, poorly made, and poorly installed sign should. The only problem with neon is many people don't maintain their neon so when tubes break and the sign becomes partially lit it looks shabby.

I agree with you Dave, 100%. The mis-conception about lead glass does not help either. When some fruitcake with more mouth than brains says that the lead in neon tubing will leach out of the landfills and contaminate the drinking water, gets top billing and gets lead removed from neon tubing, really ticks me off. What the poor fool did not know is for that to happen, the glass needs to reach a temperature in excess of 1,500 degrees F. Answer this for me, what will survive said temps? I really don't think there will be too many people left to care! OK that's my rant for today. Peace my friends, Don
