Today is Sophie and my 40th wedding anniversary. I made my mind up when I was ten that I was going to marry her and did when I was twenty. That gal deserves a medal!
I'm sure to her, that forty years has gone by like ten minutes...
...under water!

The Italian's Secret to a Long Marriage
At St. Peter's Catholic Church in Toronto , they have weekly husband's marriage seminars.
At the session last week, the priest asked Giuseppe, who said he was approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman all these years.
Giuseppe replied to the assembled husbands, 'Wella, I'va tried to treat her nicea, spenda da money on her, but besta of all is, I tooka her to Italy for the 25th anniversary!'
The priest responded, 'Giuseppe, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here! Please tell us what you are planning for your wife for your 50th anniversary?'
Giuseppe proudly replied, " I gonna go pick her up."

Congratulations! Someday there might be something like a letterhead meet for those of us that have been with the same partner celebrating forty or more years married and in the sign business. Glad you have a tough lady.

Rick, that would be a unique group, for sure. Wives of sign guys have to be a tough class of folks, and I guess, very loving.
The same is true for the husbands of those gals that chose this profession.

I've heard that a successful marriage is the union of two good forgivers. My older sister, who just had her 39th anniversary, said in any marriage, there's always a little "hanging in there" time on both sides. One of the reasons marriages fail is that they don't try to hang in there through the stressful times--they just give up. I guess being married to someone in the sign business gives plenty of "hanging in there" practice...

Being married to David I'm sure she has laughed alot over the forty years...I know I have laughed alot at his clever and humorous remarks here in Letterville...and a sense of humor can be a tremendous asset in a relationship...Congratulations.

Rusty - not all wives have a sense of humor. Sometime, I will tell you how I know that.
