What is the best method for doing transparent shadows behind letters, in cartoons, and even behind stripework? The local art store has One Shot clear. Is it possible to add a little color to it to match your main design and still be a little see through? I've seen some people use a varnish. What kind and will this work with One Shot on cars and the like??

Use the OneShot Super tinting Clear with some of the shadow color in it. Don't forget the hardener.

Hardener, yes the Isocyanite catalyst that you will use with your paint which is highly dangerous as it can enter your pores, attack your nervous system and eventually kill you. But don't worry about it because those who use it are still around, at least for now.

Chris, One Shot makes their own hardener, or you can use acrylic enamel hardener, from a body shop supplier.

The government doesn't want us to be collecting SS and Medicare.
Lead, isocyanates, solvents and all the other stuff that they warn you about ... are really preservatives! That is why Joey, Old Paint, Bill, Crazy Jack, Dave and the rest of us old guys are still around.

When you do your shadows this way, bear in mind, any overstrokes will be darrker, try to do everything in one smooth motion.
