The "Welcome to Indiana" committee gives an annual award for best improved property. None of my close friends nominated me, so a lot of people are really noticing the difference.

Now for the good news & bad news (Sawatsky-style):
The good news is my shop was nominated. [Smile] The bad news is I didn't win. [Frown]

The bad news is I lost to a brand new building with all kinds of trees & landscaping. [Frown] The good news is a friend from the fire company worked on their building, the trees & landscaping. I've told him a dozen times I no longer like him since I lost an award because of him so I see a lot of free after-meeting or after-call meals, including lunch today. [Razz]

Last year
 -

Latest photo, last fall when I ran out of painting weather: Since this, the front windows have been replaced, front door painted & my 1501 sign was installed this week.
 -

1501 sign. The gray marble doesn't show well. -

In the past year, I've put in new garage doors, new paint outside, new windows, new pavement, new gravel, new river rock out front, pulled out garbage, overgrown weeds, shrubs & privacy fence that was falling down. Also installed a furnace & hot water tank (shop had neither when I bought it) & painted the office.

We're too jealous. Always wanted either a gas station or old fire house. You've done a great job.

How awesome! I've always thought old gas stations would make remarkable sign shops. You've proven that idea sound!

And congrats on the recognition. That in itself is a total win!

Thanks everyone. It truly was an honor to be nominated, especially because I don't know who nominated me just that it wasn't one of my close friends.
The day I moved, the 1st thing I said when I got to the shop was "I hate this place." Now I'm proud when I pull in & just complain about the office being too small. That'll change when I get to remodel it & if things play out well in the next couple weeks, that could happen a lot sooner than expected.
