I didn't know these existed until a friend mentioned it last week, so we stopped in Dothan, Alabama and shot these downtown. The artist is Wes Hardin and the detail is astounding. Most are quite large too........

Fantastic detail. From memory Chester Cunningham was from Dothan. If only he was alive to see these masterpieces. thank you for putting the pics up.

Wes Hardin has done murals around here.... here's a couple in Brewton, AL, a nearby town where I had a sign shop and lived for a few years...

Well,

Here's another name to add to my HERO list. Can't wait to find out more about him. Wonder if he ever worked with Chester Cunningham. He was one of the nicest sign artist I've ever mett.

thanks sonny...my dad lives in dothan and i stop to look every time i drive through!!! they are so amazing i have walked around and look at these seeing them in person, well i was just in awe!!!

Holy cow! I'm going to tell you what, you've got to know this that and the other to be able to paint figures and such. Very few can pull it off like that. It's an inspiration to see work like that.

You're right Peach - very humbling. While us Walldogs are running around patting ourselves on the back, this guy is quietly raising the bar solo. William Cochran and Eric Grohe are also in the mural stratosphere.

I called and left him a message - I'd like to invite him to Danville. I have no doubt we could learn a lot.......
