I've got to do a 12' banner, vinyl lettering, and only have an 8' table. Any suggestions? Oh, I do not have enough wall space either. Thanks

Is it a vinyl banner? Are you hand-lettering it?
Of course, you could be lazy like me and simply have a wholesaler fabricate it for you and just mark it up. I have a wholesaler who charges me $1.75 a sqft printed in full color and I resell it for $5-6 a sqft.

You could mark the center of the banner, and mark the centers of all the lines of copy. Then do one half of the banner, slide it over and do the other.
Shouldn't be too bad.

Just measure carful and apply the vinyl. Or mock up your table with an extention piece of plywood. For just one banner. I'd just use the 8' table.

Pull the measurements off your program. How far down, and how far over the lettering starts. Just make sure you have the banner size set up correctly in the program. Often a 48" banner will be 46" due to the hem.
Start measuring at one end, apply the lettering that's on the table. After it's applied, you can remove most the transfer tape, just leave two or three inches to make a hinge for the rest of the lettering. When that's applied, slide the banner down and letter the rest.

Handle it all kinds'a ways according to my mood . . . do it on the floor . . . do it half at the time like Dale said, pull over another table and lay peice of plywood like an extender . . .

Actually, for YEARS now I've wanted to make an hinged-on 4ft extender for each end of my main 4x 8 table thereby having the additonal option of a 12ft or 16 ft table . . . the greater question is WHY have I not done this and WHAT am I waiting for . . .
Well. Who knows the answers to these procrastinations - it all adds to the mystery of our business . . . people just can NOT figger out HOW we do this stuff . . . lol

Get a couple of 12 foot 2x4s and 1.5 sheets of plywood. Lay the lumber across the table and have at it. If the seam between the sheets of plywood are an issue, ht it with some 2 inch tape to smooth it up a little. Don't wanna hurt the table...use sawhorses.

I painted two 60 foot by 4 ft banners a few years ago, and rigged up a frame so they were suspended outide, attached to the truck, over into the shed, along the wall, out the other side, and around the corner. I scaled the master & pencilled the layout on it from there, beginning in the actual middle of the banner & working both ways.
We also made up a table that's 8 x 12 ft, with a pivoting top, so it can be flat, or vertical like a wall. It's been very useful. (mainly to sit junk on when it's down flat!)

I just do like Dale Feicke... or measure the length of the lettering, figure my edge distance... tape it in place, do one side, slide it over do the other....
OR slide it back and forth a few times if you have solid panels stretching across.....
I do know that in the time it took me to read this post, I could almost have had it done...
If none of these ideas work, you could just make two 6' banners and put them up side by side.....

Thanks everyone. I am using 1 & 1/2 sheets of 3/4 plywood. Keep my fingers crossed, have a Bud Light and hope it lines up. This is a freebie I'm doing for a friend so I don't want to outsource it.

Actually, 8 ft of table & 12 ft of banner...
that's only 2 ft falling off each end. Subtract a bit of margin or negative space, and most of it's in the centre 8 ft. Just do that much from the middle outwards, and then to the ends as you get to them.
