Often we see and hear of folks asking for prayers for loved ones. While this is a forum about signs, we still consider ourselves family.

I would like to report how some prayers have been answered.

Several years ago Mike's mother-in-law, Alma Bunting developed cancer, went through the chemo/radiation stuff (lost her hair) and eventually the cancer went into remission.

Then this year the cancer came back with a vengance. It spread rapidly through blood, internal organs and finally into her bone marrow. All the chemo and radiation failed to make a dent in the intense spread. Several experimental drugs were tried, but with no effect.

Finally, there was one more thing that had just been developed, but it was so powerful, that they though it might kill Alma before it killed the cancer...but they were willing to try. She went into the hospital once a month for this powerful threatment and stayed three days each time. It made her extremely ill.

After three months, the doctors said that there was no use in continuing the treatments because the cancer was continuing to increase and the medication had had no effect.

Basically, they sent Alma home to die. Her weight had dropped to below 80 pounds and her skin began to take on a ashen grey look.

The doctors said that there was less than a 10% chance for survival and the time left was measured in months.

But Alma is a 67 year old woman of tremendous faith. To her death was not something to be feared but a welcomed reward. So, she and her husband Bill began to plan a final trip back to Canada where she had grown up, to see friends and places that were special to her.

Back home lots of folks continued to pray for her and the rest of the family. The trip through Tennesse (to see family) and Michigan and into Canada and back took two months. Through the gracious friendship of Bill's employeer, they made the trip in his 38' luxury motor home with all the expenses being put on his personal credit card.

All of us were worried that she wouldn't be able to physically stand the trip, but she said that she could die in Canada or somewhere along the road as easily as she could die sitting at home. She had some medication for pain and began to eat more and more. Slowly her color returned and she gained a few pounds. And her hair began to grow back.

This past Thursday Alma went back to the hospital for a check up. The doctors found no cancer. She is 100% cancer free.

If that's not good news, I don't know what is. Prayer is powerful.

That is a tremendous story Mr. Chapman. The miraculous healing is a EXCELLENT news. But so is the sharing of the testimony of the ONE who hears our prayers.

Never be afraid to send up a prayer, but always be willing to tell of His Glory through the answer.

What a great day!! Thanks so much!!

God is great, Ray. Simple as that.

Wonderful story, especially the ending.

Truly, a miraculous - powerful story of faith and God's goodness Ray.

Had the outcome proved different, there is still amazing, and life-changing lessons to be learned through witnessing the faithful life of someone like Alma, who understands there is something beyond this brief stay on earth.... an eternal life of perfection with their Creator. For people like Alma...it's a win/win situation.

Thanks for sharing that... very inspirational.

Real nice story, having a brother who is fighting cancer, it gives people hope when there seems to be none...

It's not Off Topic. We're all terminal.

What an awesome God we serve!

But even if she would have passed from here to there to personally meet Him, He'd still be awesome . . . [Smile]
Thanks to Him for letting you all enjoy her incredible spirit for a while longer!

This reminds me of a wonderful little analogy kind'a related to signs, I heard today:

There's a statue dedicated to Christopher Columbus showing a lion biting of the first word of a 'sign', a quote: Ne Plus Ultra (sp)
It means 'No More Beyond'.
Of course we know Chris discovered much more beyond what was alleged to be a flat earth.
We also realize that when we draw our last breath we don't just 'flat-line'. There is 'Plus Ultra'!
One easily begins to realize one is only here simply to prepare for there . . .

It's my favorite quote from a cancer survivor:

'We're ALL terminal'

Raymond

Thanks for sharing this. I am going to print and give it to the lady that I present below.

A lady in our church had cancer in her liver. A needle biopsy proved it. Since treatments had not worked, doctors decided to operate.

Once inside and looking at her liver the doctor told the operating room staff to “Put this lady on hold, I am going back to my office to look at her charts”. He was convinced that he had operated on the wrong lady.

In fact, it was the correct lady; he saw the needle scar where he had previously taken the biopsy. The doctor closed the lady and went into the waiting room where the family along with our pastor was anxiously waiting.

It was then that the doctor told everyone that there was no cancer present and said, “I do not understand!”

Our pastor said, “Can I tell you why the cancer is gone?” Our entire congregation had been praying for this lady and family.

The doctor replied that he was a man of science, but that he had no choice but to believe that God had removed the cancer.

Following the surgery the lady told our congregation that on the morning of the surgery she had felt the presence of angels and knew that everything would be OK.

This was some 8 or more years ago. The lady remains cancer free and we all know why. Praise God!
