The smoked-herring museum in Lubec, Maine needs a door hand-lettered and beautiful as the drive would be, it's about 400 miles from me. They like this vinyl and UltraLeaf one on my website:

Their copy will be shorter.

Thanks, Bob, I called him. He's only 1 state away, but Maine's a HUGE state to drive all the way across!

A friend of mine owns a vacation rental in Lubec, just down the road from the West Quoddy Head lighthouse. I've traded signs for time at his place in the past, and he's been after me to trade again - his place is a retired Coast Guard Station, and he wants to have the lettering re-done in leaf on the entrance fascia. The only real obstacle has been time and scheduling; we've been hoping to put together a long weekend there with some friends, but getting everyone to agree on when has been like herding cats.

Why am I telling you this? Just that when I finally do this job, I wouldn't mind having a paying job nearby to sweeten the deal. Chances are I won't be doing this trip before next spring sometime, so if they aren't in too much of a hurry - and Downeast, they almost never are - tell them I'd be interested.

Frank, Lubec is over 300 miles from me. Not really cost effective.

Frank;
Why not have a piece of plexiglass cut to their window size in Albany, letter it in your shop and mail it to Maine.

It's one of my lifetime dreams/goals to see all of Rt. 1 someday.

John- that's a great idea...but now I suspect Cam's gonna do it. I might be good for "Plan B" if his vacation scheduling doesn't work out, but I'd have to add plexi and packing/shipping. It's something I should get used to because as I keep adding pages and improving my website I'm getting more inquiries from farther away.
