I was lucky enough to be able to attend last years Moose Mania and had a great time. Very relaxing and always educational with Mr. Bill in the neighborhood.

The setting is incredible and the list of folks coming so far looks to be a blast.

Can't wait to see Bill and Jane again..... looking forward to seeing BIll and Rondi again also.

Be willing to bunk with someone ay Will's, they have some rooms/cottages that sleep up to 8 or 10 people....pretty reasonable prices....give me a shout.

Nothing prettier than the White Mountains in September! Well, anytime of the year for that matter!

Yeah thats my name on the list! whooohoo. I think I am gonna try to get the Cabin half way down the hill again...if I do, I think it sleeps 8-9

Do we need winter coats up there in the mountains? hehehhee

Jane, if ya got the room you had better pack, warm clothing, One Shot proof golashas, and hearing protectors.

I would drive 25 hrs in 1-direction, just to sit next to Ron Costa for just a few hours. Ron is one of our national letterhead treasures.

I said that...

I'm thinking about taking a canvas or 2 and an easel and doing some painting of them there mountains. Of course it would be weather related and whether or not we can fit it all in the Buick. Sounds like a great bunch of folks to get with and we're excited about exploring parts of the country we've never been to.

I've been to all states west of the Mississippi in the lower 48 and all but about a 1/2 dozen east of the Mississppi, so I'm narrowing in on it. My goal is to see them all before I expire.

Hey Bill, If you have time, drive on up through to Vermont. Try to hit highway 4 through Rutland and then take highway 100 up through central Vermont....it's quite a drive and then you can go down into Glen, NH past the Mount Washington Hotel and Bretton Woods on 302......now that's a drive!

Careful of da moose though!

Missed you in Algoma so I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again soon!

You Yankees are lovable, as are some of these trail riders I know around here. I want to be there, especially since Karen said OK.

I have about one week to decide, and I got Roger and Sal wantin' to go as well.

Honestly, I don't know if I can pull it off...but I will keep it foremost on my wish list, for the next 7 days.

Love U All,

Karen,
Should some of you want to crash in Bratelbouro Vt. for your upcoming event, try the www.greenriverbridgehouse.com
Its owned and operated by one of my old high school flames, and I in fact, was the cook there a few years back.
Joanie's place would be a memorable stop over because it represents a historic New England setting with modern amenities.

Hey Karyn, put young Teddy Keily's name on the list.

Miss Jill...

You are so right in many ways.

I, amongst my peers, have probably been the most guilty party, when it comes to planning ahead.

I ALWAYS tried to pre-think panels. Especially color-wise.

But I will add, that I am totally enamored, by your ability to take an idea and run with it, which I believe is the whole essence of what we, as artists, are supposed to be doing.

Man, Sonny, that's a bummer, I was going to make you a batch of blues.

I was wondering what the procedure for driving through Canada is. I was told just the other day that we would not need a passport to go from the States to Canada. It was mentioned that our driver's license would work. How about it? How about birth certificates?

I could cut a chunk off our trip and avoid some urban areas by running along the Canadian border and back into Vermont and then to the meet. Would Ottawa be along the way? I wouldn't mind seeing that.

I'm weary here lately and need some R&R and I can just about guarantee I'm not up for setting a record making panels. I'm hopin' for fall like weather, a fire to sit by and swap lies, hunkerin' down with the heads and getting relaxed. My poor old body is ground to a halt. I'm hoping to do a good old fashioned oil painting. Life is good!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Dale Manor (Member # 4858) on :

Hey Bill,

When I went into Canada to go to the Moose Jaw event, all I had to show them was my drivers license. I also had a birth certificate along with me but they didn't ask for it. If you do cross into Canada I would print out a copy of the registration form and anything else to show them what you are doing. I did get the third degree both ways but that's to be expected.

It would be a bit shorter of a drive for you to go up through Canada and a bit more to see too. You could head down this way once you hit Montreal. If you're heading through Vermont give me a shout.

Looking forward to seeing you guys. As much as I've been working lately, a few days at a meet will be very relaxing. And this is one of the nicest setting for a meet that will will find.

Posted by Jillbeans (Member # 1912) on :

Well, I fell off the fence. Sent my registration in yesterday.
I don't know if I'll be up to a panel contest. Mine are usually quantity versus quality anyway, with the quality part coming up short.
I think I'll leave my record from Sonny's stand.
I need to get away, too.
Maybe I'll bring some cookies and some Iron City.
Hey Bill, be careful in Montreal because the traffic is crazy and the road signs are all in French!
Love....Jill

Jill, believe me, this is the kinda place you just want to hang out and chill by the pool, panels? what panels? Iron City beer? I might have to bring some real, Boston Lager... oh wait, I seem to remember some fine micro Brew, what was the name Bob? Tuckermans?

Posted by Bill Diaz (Member # 2549) on :

Bob is bringing along some of his homebrew. Right, Bob?

This ain't the place to shoot for production records, Jill.

One trip upstairs in Bobby's Barn and you're apt to never come back down. It's the most relaxing and scenic location for a meet I've ever experienced.

Glad you can make it.

Gettin' into the 50's at night, I can smell the mixer of popcorn, pork chops, hotdogs, hot chocolate at the game ... ummmmmmm!!! Still got kids I coached before I retired out there for the next 2 years.

It's time for the Pontiac Indians to whoop up on the adnormal team from Normal (I hope).

Just talked to Peach and he's got me syked! He mentioned the leaves are changing, so Jane will be taking bunches of pix.

We are looking forward to a weekend trip to the mountains. We always learn a lot at these events.

Diane had a bumper crop of hot peppers and tomatoes so she put up about 25 pints of salsa using a recipe from my Hellish Relish cook book.

Should we bring a couple jars with some chips and dark beer?

i know you can't trust it this far ahead....but it does look like a great forcast....at this present time...no rain in site. oh and i'm on vacation til oct 1st, how cool is that!
its suppose to be warm too...the pool will come in handy. and not to worry, its heated just in case.
so....we will see ya soon!

Posted by Bill Diaz (Member # 2549) on :

Jill, they sell pork chops by the gazillions, but you've got to go to the concession stands to get them.

Pontiac came from behind 10-0 to win the game 13-10 in the last 3 minutes of the game against those rich kids from University High School. I love it.

Sad fact is, I had my 86 year old father with me and it dipped down into the 30's during the second half and he asked me to take him home. So we missed the last quarter and a half, and didn't see the comeback.

If that 60's during the day and 30's at night makes it to the meet, we'll bring the s'mores. Peach already mentioned he wanted to do some zilching.

Posted by KARYN BUSH (Member # 1948) on :

it was 35 this morning...but the forcast for the meet says it will be in the low 70s during the day...usually with a breeze this time of year...it could get chilly at nite...40s probably...no fear the pool is heated at 85. it's another gorgeous day today. see you guys in 4 days!

Report from the road.

Made it to Batavia, NY yesterday. Great trip with that fun lady, Jane. They must have a letterhead in this town -- got some great looking signs and some great looking murals which we are on our way to take pix of this morning. The Center Street Smoke House is a suggested stop for travelers in Batavia.

Other than around Chicagoland the traffic has been good even in Cleveland where we must have hit at just the right time, because we breezed right through. We might have to take out a home equity loan to pay for all the tolls, though!

We were having such a great time traveling that I almost ran out of gas in Cleveland. I thought if this is anything like Chicago, I hope I don't venture in a wrong neighborhood for gas, but we lucked out. Then since we didn't have a clue how to get back on the interstate, we used our ONSTAR for the first time. Now that's kewl.

Venturing up by the Finger Lakes and on into Vermont. I love traveling this way. I'd like to find out who's doing the great work in Batavia, NY. Many kudos to whomever!

Don't know if we'll get to the meet tonight or not -- we are in amble mode. It'll be late if we do. See you soon!
