Just wondering if any of you are printing on reflective. Roland has a printable reflective I use
for vehicles etc, but it is high performance/conformable to rivits, and just too expensive for some temporary stuff I need to do.
Anybody found a cheaper brand that will print?

I know I could print on calendared clear, but hoping to save that lamination step.

Suelynn....my buddy with the SolJet prints on 3M reflective all the time with great success....

But it was the "680 Control-Tac" which is more expensive....we tried the cheaper 3M and the ink flaked off.

But the high end grade worked very well....

I believe that Roland uses the 3M Control Tac stuff and brands it for their use...and I think it is more expensive than buying 3M branded reflective. Seems like that's what his Soljet dealer told him...

That much I can tell you - the 3M Control-Tac works well.

You might want to compare the price to the Roland...hope that helps.

Hi Suelynn

I have had great sucess printing on the 3M 3200 series reflective (white is 3290 ). If you want vibrant colours do a double hit at standard mode( this takes quite a while to dry but reflects nice ) For medium duty stuff print at high resolution. For quick stuff that still looks good but does not reflect as colourful( looks a little washed )use standard mode and for black lettering for temp traffic signs print at low resolution. Laminate with 2mil if you think it will get any abuse.

I use Trim USA's printable reflective.
It works great.
Their number is 1-800-642-0959.
Give them a call to check pricing.

Thanks guys.

These are just coroplast directional markers for a drilling rig, they get beat up and replaced all the time, so the cheaper the better.
I'll look into the brands you've mentioned.

I did a little practice printing and thought you might be interested in the results.

I tried two kinds of Avery reflective, the ink puddled on both.
I also tried a scrap of 3M scotchlite that I had on
hand and it printed beautifully. Then I phoned around to order some more, and 3 vinyl suppliers no longer carry 3M. I thought that was weird.
The third supplier I called had a printable reflective for a very reasonable price, so I ordered some (I think it is made in Japan). I doubt it is conformable, but for this job sounds perfect.

Thanks for the advice you guys, I really appreciate it.
