We have a very cool job just starting in the shop. I ordered the materials last week and most of them are now arriving. In spite of being snowed under with design work I should be doing I opened the box I ordered from SignCrafters to take a peek. The smallest package was the bestest... a whole box of GOLD... 500 leaves to play with. IMAGINE the fun projects which we can do with THAT MUCH GOLD! (I know it small potatoes for some folks who do a lot of gold but around our shop its a lot)

The job we are doing doesn't require that much gold... but it gets a bunch more reasonable when you buy larger quantities and the extra didn't cost much when added to the initial order.

So as I sit and design the next jobs I seem to have gold on the brain... and you know what that leads to. [Smile]

So instead of bronzing Phoebe's first shoes, you're now thinking Grandpa Dan will gild them?

Sounds exciting Dan. You have to let me know when you will be gilding something, I would love to come down and take the oppurtunity to watch and learn.

Put some of that gold on those windows that look out over your property Dan - I think that place should be framed in gold when you look out over it. [Smile]

I loved the Signcraft article, what an inspirational place to work from, makes my old garage look very shabby - maybe I'll have to encapsulate it in foam [Smile] You can count on me showing up on your doorstep someday - hopefully when your shop is full of exciting projects and you have time to answer a million questions.

I'll happily show you what I know of gilding Julio... but you'll be looking over my shoulder and reading the directions from Kent's book on gilding which I have.

I'm still very much a novice when it comes to gold... but luckily surface gilding isn't that difficult in my view.

Window glass is something I have yet to try outside of a workshop situation.

But a little thing like that isn't going to stop me from trying and having fun while doing it!.

And Kelly... there seems to ALWAYS be something cool being built in our shop. Phoenix & I laugh every time we pull something wierd out of the shop... as unbelievable as it may seem we just know that the next project will be even wilder than the last.
