My old Epson inkjet(desktop) printer just quit and it's much cheaper to just by a comparable new model. 2 Epsons even print directly on CDs/DVDs (must be printable blank discs, not just any kind)

Any recommendations on what current models you are using in your shop? I would like to be able to print large proofs on ocassion(larger than 8.5 x 11"

Thanks again!!

hp deskjet 5550, 4800dpi.

I used to have an Epson that printed tabloid size and would also print mini banners, I believe up to 44" long.

I bought an epson 1280 from the epson website store. ($100 rebate) they also sell refurbished models with warranty. Seemed to be the best deal around. It will print 13" wide and it can use use rolls of material. I use it to print good quality art. For the sign part of my business I like to be able to print the ledger size for scale drawings. I have printed on injet receptive canvas with excellent results as well as injet receptive archival papers, And I have been buying ink from Extracartridge extracart@oz-online.net very inexpensive and good quality so far.

I like this printer alot.

I recently purchased an Epson Stylus Color 2200. It prints 13" x 18" and uses seven individual ink cartridges.

I've only tried a few different types of paper but it can print on canvas too. So far, I've been thrilled with the results.

I got tired of paying high prices for inkjet that dried out or was slow to print have tried Epson and Canon.

This time I bought a colour laser an OKI C5200, which so far is great for us, fast and gives great proofs much nicer on normal paper than inkjet, photoprinting, is not the same as inkjet but i think that was a waste of time and money too. We upload digital prints to an ftp server of a large store here (up to 100 at a time) and get prints back very cheaply 3 days later.

So for me when I bought the inkjet the photoquality was the only attraction, colour lasers are cheap too now, and much faster.

My wife got me a Minolta QMS 2300 DL color laser for an anniversary present. It prints on card stock and I can duplex with it. It doesn't have the horsepower of Mike's printer but it does great for our needs. I'm very happy with it.

Canon i455- 4800 x 1200 resolution. I got it this past summer just because it was cheap, (cheaper than some ink cartridges)! about $29 after all the rebate stuff. WOW!!!! it prints great! For the stuff you want one to do expect to pay $100+(which is still cheap) but the new printers have great resolution. They make their money on the consumables, not the actual printer so printers are dirt cheap!
