Fred's meet is comin up in March...This is his 13th or 14th year hosting which boggles my mind to think he could do it...but he just keeps coming back and hosting a wonderful gathering...(can't forget Marilyn, his wife.. )
One of the best heads around....and one of the finest people I have ever met!
I am looking so forward to it!

My visit was awsome! Dang ... been two years already ?????
If I ever get back to US of A, Fred's and Monte's is top of the list.

Everyone that comes in early on Thursday is welcome! I'll post when it gets closer so we can get a head count too (gotta buy beer). Posted by Mark Yearwood (Member # 2723) on :

I wanna go!!!
just that time and money dictate which meets I attend

Mike and I will be there. After all these years it's like an annual trip to Mecca. There are not many people like Fred and Marilyn (and Chip). It's really a laid back weekend where you can do just about anything connected with our industry - glue chipping, glass etching, gold leaf, carving, plus the usual array of pin stripers and hand letterers. You won't see many computers, though.
And now that Mark Yearwood is famous, you'll get to rub elbows with one of the "elite".

Famous? Who is the illustrious feature writer who gets to jetset all over the US and do seminars on laying out 4x8's and coating MDO? I forget his name..Ray Chapstick or something. I sure wish I could meet him someday. I must learn his roller technique.

Rule #1 Plan to learn alot and have fun meeting some of the best people on earth.
Rule #2 Dont be intimidated by them, get out a brush and have fun and ask questions they will be happy to teach you things.

DON'T GET ME TO LYING!! If you see, I'll be there.

Last Year was my first meet and it was great and a little overwhelming like robert said.
My suggestion would be to bring some actual small projects. For glass etching, glue chipping, gold leafing or anything else you want to learn. There will be someone there that will have great advice and tips.
I learned a lot by just watching but never seem to find the time to actually do the projects at home.
I to got to rub elbows with the likes of Mark and Ray and all the other sign masters that show up at Fred's Meet, hopefully I will be able to make time again this year.

You don't know how much I would like to go to this one...it's the wrong time for me...the weekend before Gatornationals and I am usually hopelessly commited to getting my part done on time.
I'll wait and see how it goes..maybe a way will open up. If I don't make it at least you'll know why....

Arghhhhhh!!!
I just got told today that they cannot grant my vacation time because one of the guys at work had to be operated on and he might not be back until the middle of march. but if things change I might be able to go yet.
I really do want to go though, there is always next year!
Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
Harris, that is something you can not count on. Next year sometimes never comes...
Posted by Raymond Chapman (Member # 361) on :
"next year" - that's what I told Rick Glawson about coming to his Conclave....just before he died.
Posted by Stephen Faulkner (Member # 2511) on :
Hey Ringo!!!... you can't come if you don't bring BOBBO! Magoo needs a playmate his own age and I KNOW he plans to make it this year!!!!
It was a pleasure to meet Ringo last year... what I would call a "natural" Glad you made plans to be there Corey.
By the way I'd like to thank that Bowers Kid for paying everyones registration... whataguy!

Sent my check to Fred and Marlyn Saturday morning. Like Mark, I'm having withdrawal symptoms and need another Letterhead fix. Hope to see a bunch of you there.
Posted by Ray Skaines (Member # 3702) on :
Geez, been away from Letterville too long. After a couple of hours peekin' in I can tell I need a "fix". Nothin' like a Letterhead high.
Ok Fred, I'll grab my brushes and head north. Looking forward to hang with Robert, Ray, Mark, and seein' everybody.
See ya in Okee-lahoma!

WOW I never Realized it was so close to us only 800 Miles Via the Interstates even closer if we take backroads. This might be a strong Possibility if I can get some of the work cleared off the board we should be able to make it.
Posted by Monte Jumper (Member # 1106) on :
It's less than that William...it's 750 from Norman Ok. to Denver...you're more like 675 maybe less about a 10 hour drive...made this drive a lot of tmes and it's an easy drive.
Just get up in the morning and say to yourself ..."My job today is drive to Oklahoma"
Next thing ya know yer here
If you come in on thursday you're welcome to the "Party before the Party" (see the post on the BB)
