I use my hotmail email account for almost all of my email. I usually leave the junk mail filter on exclusive - and get probably 10-20 emails in my junk folder everyday...
... up until a few days ago. Lately I have been getting virtually NO junk/spam email! But that also includes some sites I have signed up for on the site, then I don't recieve the confirmation email.
Has anyone else had this going on for them?

Me too Dana, last few days no junk or spam. Knock on wood Posted by Curtis hammond (Member # 2170) on :
Hotmail has seen the light. They are offering larger free accounts and more liberal usage. And.. They turned on the SPAM filters at the server levels. FINALLY..
All because of yahoo and google offering large free acounts too. And, more important. Hotmails realized that selling larger accounts so you can get even more spam is the wrong idea. They realize that no one will buy a larger account when the normal one is filled up with so much spam you cannot get your real email.

Then what about the emails you want to get? For instance - I went to a site that takes entries for dog shows. I had a question, so I used their online form to ask it.
I never recieved the reply. I used my other account and they said they sent a reply to hotmail, but there has been problems that hotmail won't allow it.
How do you set hotmail to accept those emails?

Hi Dana, This is Jennifer. Wow, it seems like I only come on here to ask for help and now finally I can offer help to someone, this is great. First of all, what Curtis said. Plus you have control over your junk mail filter under the options tab in the upper right hand corner. Once you click on options, click on "mail" on the left side, then click on "email protection" then "junk mail filter" there you can choose a lower level of protection if you wish. Ours are set to "enhanced" by choosing "exclusive" the only emails you get now are from your contact list or specific ones you have authorized.
Whether you remain exclusive or not doesn't really mattter b/c after you have clicked on "junk email protection" you can then click on "safe list" instead of the filter and add any addresses there that you do not want filtered out.
I hope this makes sense and if you have any questions you can call me at 1-800-262-2663. --Jen

Jennifer - thanks... but I do understand the junk mail options. That's what sorts it to go to regular inbox vs the junk mail box. I had it set to exclusive, but bumped it a notch down, hoping that might help.
But just not getting anything in the junk mail box at all!!

I think I'm getting all your junk mail! I have msn, I assume that's affiliated with hotmail? I get 40+ junks a day....can't put the filter on exclusive as I sometimes get emails from my web site.
I only use that sort of email account to protect me from viruses. A
