Hi Heads,

Been I while since I have been on here with a question. I am wondering if anyone has upgraded to SignLab 7.0? What do you think of it? Did they fix the problems that were in 6.01? Does the chisel effect work better? Is the chisel effect more user friendly?

Thanks for your coments

The biggest improvements and direction Cadlink has made are in the area of digital printing especially to the Edge. Makes that job very easy and intuitive.

Face it, vinyl cutting software features have pretty much maxed out in features for all programs. Even Corel with version 12 is pretty much gilding the lily with it's latest incarnation in design features.

I personally prefer chiseled fonts rather than converting them in Signlab. Much cleaner.

Hi Rob,

I looked over the differences between 6 and 7 and agree with David's reply above.

One other nice feature in 7, but probably not worth the $350 to upgrade is the ability to lock guidelines. I'm always accidentally moving the guidelines and sometimes i don't even realize i have moved them.

I haven't upgraded yet and am probably won't since i don't do digital printing.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Rob,

There have been many improvements from e6 to ver 7. Yes, there have been improvements made to the Chisel effect. I would recommend that you download a demo from www.cadlink.com and verify for yourself. Any problems or questions, please email or call technical support, and identify yourself as a customer with a demo version.

Just to add a bit more about the different highlights between e6.1 and 7:

- New Print and Cut Manager acts as a queuing system for print and/or cut data. Ability to archive job data for future re-printing. Also includes new in-rip priming for better priming of rosette patterns.
- Ability to create colour swatch from palette.
- Multiple-Instance windows.
- Create multi-spot gradient fills using spot colours.
- Fantastic Fills.
- New parametric objects :Monuments, rulers and dials.
- Improved on-screen colour management.
- New colour adjustments and filter tools for bitmaps.
- Perforated Window Wizard for easy creation of perforated window designs.
- Ability to Save an Embedded file. (This will save all externally referenced information such as fonts, bitmap fills, etc).

This is just a highlight and does not include all changes. Please see the Cadlink web-site for more details on the various products offered.

Thanks

Hubert

Just my opinion, its a great upgrade, and well worth the money.
