We are making the jump to a large digital printer. 72" we think. Where can I find others to compare. We are looking at the Colorspan 72" GATOR.
Do they get you with the ink and substrate materail?

Hiya Bob,
If you're looking to go 72"+, look into the solvent and eco-solvent printers. They're more money but they claim that they can print on almost any substrate.
A good link for reference is http://www.large-format-printers.org/
Before you take the plunge and buy a printer, try checking with the competition in your area and see if they would be interested in doing wholesale work for you. This way you can learn about the machines and build your market first. When you're doing enough business to support the machine, buy it.

Havin' fun,

Checkers

Checkers has some great advice, the way large printers are evolving it is hard to know which way the wind is blowing tomorrow.

There is a lot to be said for farming out prints.

Hi Bob -

Southland Sign Supply just got a new 72" printer and they're wholesale pricing pretty aggressively. I use their office in southern California, but they have a branch in Las Vegas. Those things are a hefty investment. Nothin' wrong with moving carefully towards the purchase.
