Howdy! I'm Dan Sawatzky, of Sawatzky's Imagination Corporation. We are located in the small town of Chemainus, British Columbia, Canada, but our work takes us to many other places.We have way too much fun making a living. Our job is to design and fabricate cartoon architecture and sculptures for both theme parks and retail stores. We like to think signage is not at all limited to words on a flat board.
As folks simply don't smile enough, our job is to make the world a little bit more fun. I've been self-employed in the sign business since age 14. Signs gave way to fine art, which gave way to painting more than 80 historical murals all across this continent.
After the murals we went back to signs, but in an unconventional way. In our view, the whole storefront and even the displays inside comprise the sign. Outrageous becomes the norm. We have been fortunate to gather around us a very creative and fun team of folks to work with on a daily business. Every day is a great day to go to work.
