Hi Chat Pals! My name is Robert (Rob) Lenz and I live in Osage, Iowa, a small community of 3500 ppl in the north central part of the state. I am divorced, and my 2 sons live with me. I can't generate enough sign business to live on, so I work a full time job in sales at CarQuest Auto Parts and do the signs part-time.
I like to do trucks and wood signs. Been doing signs for 28 years. Got started when I
was unemployed at the old Oliver Corp. where we built Oliver tractors. My grandmother
encouraged me to go to school to learn how to paint but of course I didn't listen. So I
taught myself with the help of a freind in Austin and Signcraft mag.
In the pic I am at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. For all you old time Rock-N-Roll fans that is where Buddy Holly performed, the night he was killed along with the Big Bopper, ie the movie LaBamba. On the wall behind me and to my left is his signature and some memorabilia. There is memorabilia all over the lobby. If you ever get near there you should stop.
I enjoy chatting with all of you on the net. It helps pass the long cold winter nights.
